Success Story

The tribal women are illiterate & poor The tribal women are illiterate & poor. They live in Arunuthu hills isolated from outside world in Salem district. They have poor medical access. They have malnutrition and are severely anaemic. The male population do not care about women health and do not feed them properly. The government schemes do not reach them either.

The PEVISO organization identified these tribal women who live far away from all others villages. The organization wanted to improve their health and help them to access government medical facilities. We provided training on health and sanitation, nutritious food demonstration, Yoga therapy, identification of herbal plants, curing common diseases, forming kitchen garden, controlling goitre etc. We conducted 5 health training programmes from April to November 2009.

Women health conditions were improved by using proper medicines. Their calorie intake has increased. They consume more greens and vegetables. They practice yoga and follow nature cure. Preventive health measures are also taken up. The health committee formed looks after the women health and maintain its surroundings.
