Success Story

Prakash 14-years-old, lived on the platform at Mumbai Central Station. Prakash 14-years-old, lived on the platform at Mumbai Central Station. He scavenged the long distance trains for items to sell and left over food for survival.The Outreach worker that met him regularly noticed he was growing more unhealthy. After some time, he was persuaded to visit the doctor and undergo some tests. The tests showed he was anemic and was suffering from severe malnutrition.

Prakash was encouraged to come to the Saathi centre for his meals where he was also given supplementary diet to correct the anemia. He had several wounds where skin diseases had gotten bad which started to improve as his immune system grew stronger along with the in-house first aid treatment

Prakash is still living at the station, but now comes to the Saathi centre regularly. He s started showing an interest in the education and the vocational training programs and is exploring his options with the Outreach worker. Through the nutrition program, we were able to build a relationship that could lead to much larger impacts in the individual s life.
