Success Story

The Thar desert is a drought-prone area where malnutrition and other deficiency syndromes are widespread. The Thar desert is a drought-prone area where malnutrition and other deficiency syndromes are widespread. Proper healthcare facilities are also absent in rural areas. There is a need to establish extensive healthcare services there. The mentioned camp was organized at Meghwalon ka Bas, village Gopasariya in Osiyan Bloc of Jodhpur. Gopasariya is a small village situated 23 kms away from Tinwari, This village hamlet is a home to nearly 115 households. The people of this community fall into the scheduled castes and tribes. There is no medical service provider within a radius of 20 kms from the village. People living here mostly work in the mines and earn nominal wages, enough to keep their body and soul together.

GRAVIS posted health workers, set up a hospital and held medical/health awareness camps in the area. The medical camps organized start with stating the objective of the camp, awareness on seasonal, general diseases and fatal diseases. Then the medical examination of the ailing and distribution of medicines for free follows. In this camp 2 Patients of Asthma, 4 of Arthritis were identified. Some suspected T.B cases were also referred to TB hospital at Jodhpur for diagnosis and treatment. The details of the camp are as follows.

The village was visited by our health team after 2 months of camp. It was found that there were very few patients with deficit syndromes. Tuberculosis patients identified during the camp had been examined in the hospital and were receiving proper treatment. Those women, who had received antenatal care, were healthy.
