Godasi Nagaratnam, aged 86, resident of Epurupalem is living all alone in a small hut in the village. Godasi Nagaratnam, aged 86, resident of Epurupalem lives all alone in a small hut in the village. She is a mother of three sons, but two of them died and one seldom visits her. She cleans utensils and washes clothes in nearby houses and gets leftover food to eat. Apart from that, she gets Rs.200/- as pension. At this age, she has health problems, but has nobody to look after her.

Rakshana has identified 100 grannies that are suffering like this in the villages and formed a granny club. This is to bring confidence in them, because they require psychological support. We have facilitated medical and eye camps for them. We provide nutritional support to them.

These old ladies are happy and their hopes to live have been increased. We conduct monthly meetings with them and organise games along with children.
