Kanaka is 16-years-old and hails from a family of Devadasi community of E.G.District of Andhra Pradesh. When she was one year old she fell ill and her right leg became non functional due to Polio. Since then her miseries started. She has crawled all the way from her home to school for 5 years

JKWS working with the community, recognized her innate spirits and abilities and encouraged her and persuaded her to continue her studies. Counseling made her self confident and she does not bother about others comments. Assistance for a small operation could able to make her walk slowly with a stick

Now Kanaka has completed her X class. She is very confident and wants to continue her studies at any circumstance. She is hopeful that proper treatment will certainly make her condition improve and one day she may walk like a normal girl.
