30 year old Shobha was admitted to Sassoon hospital in the burn ward. 30 year old Shobha was admitted to Sassoon hospital in the burn ward. She is married with 2 daughters and stays with her in-laws and husband alcoholic. Her husband and in-laws suspected her of having an extra marital affair. To get rid from all mental and physical violence at home, she attempted suicide by burning herself. She was burnt 45% when admitted to Sassoon hospital

Patient welfare services were started since SOFOSH inception which caters to the needs of patients of the Sassoon General Hospitals suffering from diabetes, Tuberculosis, Cancer, Burns, Orthopedic problems and Pediatric care. Through this initiative SOFOSH provides counseling as well as economical support to these patients. Support for medicines to patients is the activity taken from the day one at SOFOSH. SOFOSH counselor worked closely with Shobha to give her emotional and financial support for medicines. They also helped her to give truthful dying statement which is normally compromised version due to the in-laws pressure. Counseling was done for her husband so that after treatment he and his family agreed to take her home. SOFOSH helped her to identify residential school for her daughters.

Home visits and follow up with the family and Shobha helped her to gain respect in family. Both daughters are in residential school and Shobha is relocated to her native village with her husband. SOFOSH is also putting efforts to put him in de-addiction center so that they live a peaceful life. She also started working in the village and is now independent enough to take care of herself and support her daughters.
