Success Story

Shobha lives in a village in Herepalya in Kolar district of Karanataka. Shobha lives in a village in Herepalya in Kolar district of Karanataka. She contracted polio when she was one year old and had to crawl around her home and local village. She was miserable and her parents were helpless.

Shoba was assessed by the rural wheelchair service team of The Association of People with Disability (APD) and was prescribed a World made rough terrain wheelchair.

This wheelchair has not only dramatically augmented her mobility but has also helped her to pursue a career towards financial independence.. She learnt tailoring under our Vocational Training Program and now she manages her own tailoring business from her home. She wheels safely and comfortably in her village on business purpose and earns Rs.2500 per month. She is confident her business will grow and is happy to live life independently.
