Success Story

All the students who have come to the institute are from poor, backward tribal areas. All the students who have come to the institute are from poor, backward tribal areas. The basic necessities of life including food, health services, education, etc. are difficult to access and avail. Inspite of being extremely good at sports and other physical activities, they are unable to showcase their talents. Lack of proper training and right avenues elude them from being able to come to the forefront.

Anil Ku. Bage, a 14 year old Kolha boy from Deokundi village of Mayurbhanj District came to Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences as a student of Grade. IV 3 years ago. As one of his cousins is pursuing MCA at KIIT University (Sister Concern of KISS), he motivated his parents to send him to KISS. As KISS encourages its students to take part in various extra-curricular activities including sports, Anil showed interest in pursuing Archery. With the help of his coach, he pursued the game with much interest and enthusiasm. He along with 3 other students of the institute represented the country in 3rd Mini Sub-Junior National Game at Vijaywada. He got a silver medal in the competition. Now, he aspires to get more laurels at the National and International levels.

After our intervention, the lives of tribal students have changed to a large extent. They have achieved some marvellous distinctions in the sports field. Their feats have been recognized at all levels – local, national and international. Today they are also selected to represent the country at various levels.
