Success Story

Shravani is a home based sex worker living in Thorrur living with her husband as a (Second wife) and has two kids. Shravani is a home based sex worker living in Thorrur living with her husband as a (Second wife) and has two kids. After their marriage she is maintaining very confidential sexual relations with others. Because her husband cannot fulfill their regular needs. So she decided to continue her profession.

The Outreach worker of SYO contacted her and motivated on safe practices of sex, usage of condom, risks of Sexually Transmitted Infections STI and HIV/AIDS.

She takes condoms from the outreach worker. She has participated in project related activities like IEC event, Legal literacy, CBO meetings etc. Before this she does not know about condoms, STI and HIV/AIDS. After attending meetings and contacting with outreach worker she has changed her behavior and reduced her clients load and using condoms for every sex encounter. She visits the project clinic for regular checkups. To know her health status she has undergone testing for Syphilis and HIV on 14-06-2008. The KPs have formed a community based organization (Nava Jevan Welfare Society) for solidarity building; Shravani is a member in the society.
