Success Story

Poona Devi aged 33 migrated to Delhi along with her family. Poona Devi aged 33 migrated to Delhi along with her family. The family of 4 started living in Bijwasn Delhi. Unlike other women coming from the same background Poonam was aware that she must pick up some skills to add to her family income consisting solely of her husband earnings of about Rs. 4000 per month as a worker in a an export firm. She was very keen to improve the quality of family life to the extent she could.

She was enrolled into tailoring classes of the Karigari program run by Literacy India at Bijwasan, Delhi. Her single minded approach to learning endeared her to her colleagues and instructors. Her pick up was faster and she managed to go beyond the regular curriculum.

Presently, she has started working from home, doing stitching and tailoring work. She manages to earn about Rs.2500 per month. She is hopeful of getting more work and earn addinonal income for the family.
