Success Story

Jothimani, 11 years belongs to an infected family Jothimani, 11 years belongs to an infected family and lost her mother in her childhood. Her father Palanisamy is also infected. He is a Dhobi by profession and works on and off. She has a younger brother aged 3years. Due to the family situations Jothimani was always feeling dejected, not mingling with other children and dropped out from school to look after her brother.

Jothimani was identified during our intervention. She was very thin & pale. In order to provide nutritious food and mainstream her to continue her education she was brought to the Abhaya Students Shelter on 15.06.2008. She has joined the local govt school. She has also been provided continuous counseling at the Home.

Jothimani is now happy and moves freely with her inmates. She is now in the 8th grade and performing well in her studies. She feels more self confident and motivated to take part in all the events of her school and as well as in the home. Her father is very happy to see her getting education and food. All these empowerments were brought to Jothimani through the Life Skill Training.
