Success Story

The scheduled tribe Yanadi families are very poor and marginalized.

The scheduled tribe Yanadi families are very poor and marginalized. Their main occupation is rat, snake picking and fishing. They live in small huts near water bodies, where there are no basic amenities. They use to catch the fish with bare hands and dont have any fishing tools. Their fish catch is very less and hence the income is very low. CRASA field workers identified these communities at the time of base line survey. Eg- Edeti Akkamma, 36 years belongs to schedule tribe (Yanadi). Her husband died 10 years back due to snake bite while going fishing. After his death she has to take care of her 2 children by rat picking and fishing.

CRASA imparted a 3 days training on micro enterprises like pickle making, chicken rearing, fish processing and fish marketing. CRASA helped Akkamma by proving fish nets and crab nets.
Now she is earning Rs50 to 75 per day and she is able to send her children to school.
