Success Story

Ms. Chaya Das 40 years old married woman having three daughters & a son. Ms. Chaya Das 40 years old married woman having three daughters & a son. Her husband was suffering from mental illness. She had to struggle a lot to treat the husband and to take care of the children. She tried to provide good education to them and was taking care of every thing alone as there was no other social support. Being unable to deal with stressful situation she becomes mentally ill. She was suspicious, disruptive and she had violent behaviors towards children. She was admitted to the Calcutta Pavlov Hospital and was there around 2 years along with her husband. As both the parents were in the hospital, so growing children were in very pathetic condition.

She was then brought to Paripurnata Half Way Home for Psycho-social Rehabilitation. During 1 year stay in Paripurnata, she improved through various kinds of psychosocial and recreational interventions, social skills training and group sessions helped her in acquiring good skills which is necessary for family living. Considering their past experiences the children were reluctant to accept her initially. But after seeing her improvement the children’s attitude has been changed.

Now the couple is leading a very happy life & the children have a tremendous caring attitude towards their parents.
