Success Story

Sabrjyam is a widow who has two children living in a small house beside agricultural fields.

Sabrjyam is a widow who has two children living in a small house beside agricultural fields. Two years ago, she lost her husband, who died from a serious diarrhea. This family had no sanitary toilet and use nearby agriculture fields and roads for defecation. Due to lack of awareness on environmental hygiene, sanitary conditions of the house premises are in the dangerous situation and the family members frequently affecting from diarrhea, skin diseases, eye diseases and fever.

When it has come to the notice of CERDS, staff went to her village and advised her to have a sanitary toilet for family. She was also suggested to keep the house premises with clean and hygienic conditions. Keeping in view of her husband death, she immediately realized and constructed a small toilet by taking support of CERDS.
All family members are using sanitary toilet properly and they are keeping it clean and in hygienic condition. By using sanitary toilet, surroundings of their house area become clean and bad odor that was coming from outside the house was also decreased. With these proper sanitary conditions, the other families nearby the Sambrjyams house are also impressed and they are also requesting this type of facilities.
