Success Story

We are working with infected children in West Godavari District. We are working with infected children in West Godavari District. The children belong to very poor families. Most are single parent children. Chukka Ashok, 7 years was studying in Grade 2 at M. P. Elementary school in Madepalli village. His father passed away due to HIV/AIDS. And at present the child is living with his mother, Dhana Lakshmi. Dhana Lakshmi is positive and doing labour work to support her family. Ashok was infected at the time of delivery.

KRDSO staff visited this family and understood the situation and provided books, clothes and nutrition supplements to the child. Now the child is studying well. KRDSO staff visit this family and counsel them.

We see an increase in education status of children, better quality of life and change in the behaviour of children. Stigma and discrimination at school level has decreased.
