Success Story

Balmati Devi,a poor backward class woman lives in Baikatpur village, Khusrupur block, Patna, Bihar. Balmati Devi,a poor backward class woman lives in Baikatpur village, Khusrupur block, Patna, Bihar. Her husband is a daily wage earner. She was married at the age of only 13 years and became mother at the age of 16 years. Due to her early marriage and no knowledge of reproductive health aspects her physical condition deteriorated. This resulted in increased expenses in medicines and doctor checkups. Ultimately, the economic condition of her family got weakened and her child was also neglected as mother could not give proper attention.

The staff and volunteers of BGVASS visited her house at Baikatpur village and interacted with Balmati Devi, her husband and other family members on the importance of reproductive knowledge for the better care of a mother. She was invited in a 3 day health camp at Khusrupur and was provided necessary training on the key aspects of reproductive health and family planning.

The health training enhanced the knowledge and understanding of Balmati Devi and her family members about reproductive health and family planning, which ultimately improved her health condition to live disease free healthy life and also helped in decreasing her medical expenses.
