Success Story

Sunanda is an 11 year old girl from Vadnikoppa village of Savanur Taluk. Sunanda is an 11 year old girl from Vadnikoppa village of Savanur Taluk. Her family does not have any land & has to depend only on wage labour. Her father is alcoholic & spends his earning on drinking. Her mother struggles with her meager earnings to manage the family & could not afford to send her child to school. So Sunanda had to drop schooling in 4th Std & was engaged in agricultural wage labour with her mother.

During June 2006, TRDC started bridge school in the village and motivated Sunanda to join bridge school. Though initially her mother expressed difficulty but finally agreed to send Sunanda to bridge school. She showed interest and attended bridge course education for one year.

TRDC motivated her re-enrolled back to mainstream for 5th standard from June 2007. Now she is goes to school happily. TRDC also counseled her father and now he also understood the importance of daughter’s education and contributes to family income. Sunanda hopes to achieve big in life with good education.
