Success Story

Meenal was a dedicated teacher who believed that like her, every child should grow up with the means to earn their own living. Meenal was a dedicated teacher who believed that like her, every child should grow up with the means to earn their own living. She loved teaching young children, but after 5 years of teaching with an Anganwadi, she found that her efforts were not as fruitful as she would have wished.

Under the LIFE Trust Child Care Centre programme, Meenal attended workshops on child care and also had a chance to discuss her grievances with the LIFE Trust team. She found that she was motivated once again to teach and motivate parents to bring children to the Anganwadi.

The role of an Anganwadi sevika is to facilitate the development of children, adolescent girls and women in the community. LIFE Trust appointed Meenal as the head of a women social service group that hears the grievances of the women in the community and then brings it to LIFE Trust. Through such a collaboration, a number of vocational training sessions have been held in crafts like sewing and candle making. With the support of LIFE Trust Meenal works with a renewed vigour assured that her efforts do not go unrecognized.
