Success Story

All the students who have come to the institute are from poor, backward tribal areas. All the students who have come to the institute are from poor, backward tribal areas. The basic necessities of life including food, health services, education, etc. are difficult to access. Due to non availability or non accessibility of health services and facilities, they suffer from myriad kind of diseases. This leads to the children getting ill and at times critically ill on a number of instances.

Runi belongs to Rayagada district which is one of the most remote and backward districts of the State. As her parents have to struggle hard to ensure they get two sqaure meals a day, education of their children was a distant dream. When the team of counsellors / teachers from KISS visited her village, her parents were keen to send Runi for education. She came to Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences in 2009 and enrolled in Grade. I last year. During her health check – up in the institute, some basic vaccination and other medical requirements were provided to her. She is very active in school and takes part in various activities. She has mixed well with her classmates and hostelmates and is making the best of the opportunity provided to her. She aspires to be a teacher, so that she can go back to her village and impart education.

After our intervention, the lives of tribal students have changed to a large extent. The health services and facilities provided to them have improved their immunization level and have immuned them from getting various diseases.
