Success Story

Karunguzhi is one of the villages in Kancheepuram District of Tamilnadu where 15 tribal families are living in extreme poverty. Karunguzhi is one of the villages in Kancheepuram District of Tamilnadu where 15 tribal families are living in extreme poverty. We are working in this village through formation of women self help groups. In this context through health camp, we came to know about the poor health status of Renuka aged 12 who had been affected by anemia. Anemia is a serious health issue among the children and these causes due to mal nutrition.

We came to know that Renuka was affected by anemia and her hemoglobin level was 8. As advised by the camp doctors, we gave her nutritional materials such as Horlicks, dates, dry dates and seasame cake. As her mother is one of the members of SHG we advised her to give the supplementary food regularly for one month.

After having taken the supplementary food, her health status has been improved considerably by maintaining hemoglobin level of 10. She is now with good health and attending her classes regularly.
