Success Story

Avdesh, a 15 year old son of a Tuberculosis patient, had to drop out of school and search for work after his mother contracted the disease. With no husband and no work, she had to stop the studies of her eldest son in order to sustain the family.

Sandeep, an Operation ASHA counselor, visited the child Avdesh at home. As Sandeep explained the details of TB treatment, transmission, and prevention to his mother, he realized that the family needed support. This was brought to notice immediately and Operation ASHA decided to support his family by giving them Rs.500 per month to feed his mother and siblings. This ensured that he did not have to leave school and find work.

Avdesh did not discontinue education. And now, 3 months later, his mother thanks Operation ASHA for supporting them in the time of need.
