Success Story

Parvathamma is aged about 65 years Parvathamma is aged about 65 years. She had a child marriage with Saianna who worked as a carpenter. She lost her right hand while working as a labour in the construction field at the age of 30 years. Then she spent everything for her treatment. Her husband died 20 years back and there after she was left alone as she had no children. But she tried to manage life by selling vegetable nearby her house. Now due to health problems and high cost of the vegetables, she is not able to earn money. For her livelihood she started begging in the locality. She does not have even a single room and living on foot path by erecting a small shed with waste material. She spends her night on streets with her minimal belongings She was very desperate for help.

One of our beneficiaries told her about Sahara and she approached us for help in 2009. We have collected her data and photos and enquired about the situation. Our volunteers proved that she was a deserving candidate among the other beneficiaries and we started helping her immediately with supplies and some cash and she has been our supported by is continuously since then.

Now we linked her with Give India on line donors and started supporting regularly for her survival. After getting support from Sahara, she feels more secured and happy that someone is caring her. We could see some change and happiness in her face as she need not struggle for a square meal a day. She comes regularly every month collects her benefits and spend time with other destitute aged by sharing their happiness and sorrows. We can see a lot of changes in her eyes after she became a beneficiary of Sahara with the support of the Give India donors.
